ADSL Router information (Netgear DGND3700v2)

Sometimes you want to get detailed information about your ADSL connection like the different values describing the quality of your connection. These limitation factors define the possible connection rates. I will show how to access this data on a Netgear DGND3700v2.

First of all you have to activate the debugging mode on your Netgear DGND3700v2 device. This is done by opening the web administration interface and passing a optional GET Parameter ?todo=debug. To open this page you need to know the credentials (I found them on a sticker on the bottom of my device). It seems like the default user is admin and the password is password (I know, very secure...).

Now it should be possible to connect to your router using telnet:

telnet 192.168.0.1

Your router will ask for your credentials every time you connect. If you have provided the right information you have access to the shell. The following command will show you a list of possible commands:

ls /bin

To get information about your ADSL connection use the following command:

adslctl info --show

Just call exit to close the connection properly.
